Best first half performance in years, got the job done and saw the game out. What a job Molesley is doing. One team in Essex.

@AlexKen_

Frowned on seeing the break up the Dieng/Hobson partnership, MM knowing his squad better and better. One team in Essex!!

@SteveShelsher

Quality team performance and what a difference a month makes! No coincidence that off field problems being resolved has helped, but full credit to MM for masterminding this improvement. But we’re not out of the woods yet, so need to keep these levels of performance up.

@tommyharris57

Hobson again - absolute man mountain. This Dieng revival is outrageous, his versatility is so important and Molesley is getting the best from him no matter his position. We look like a proper football team again and it’s just beautiful to see.

@Ljarvis27

Two quality goals from Akinola and Dieng. A proper team performance, everyone looks more confident. That one was for Big Rich, a gentleman amongst Southend supporters who sadly passed from Covid this morning.

@Kaylalula

Excellent. Hardly needed to get out of second gear after a great first half. Everyone just wanted it more- it’s a testament to what MM is building, and how much everyone buys in. Dieng absolutely exceptional- never stopped for all 90 mins.

@samgoody23

It's not been the best of times for many Blues fans this Christmas due to the Tier 4 restrictions. This performance and result will have helped lift the gloom of all Blues fans. We thoroughly deserved the win as we wanted it more and scored with two quality goals. Onwards and upwards.

@Johnfrench52Sky

The addition of sam hart and consistency of Tim Dieng are a major factor in our revival. Feared the worst with macca out but it was a good performance and we gave a master lesson in how to close a game down and ensure 3 points.

@shrimpersaway

So delighted that after two long, heartbreaking years, we look like a proper football team again. We destroyed them first 20 and then managed the game superbly.

@Jaimundo_ESX

Quality goals, Midfield were disciplined amd solid defensively. Every player now looks like they are enjoying being on the pitch again. We definitely look like we have turned a corner onwards and upwards

@KetchleyShane

Like a different team from the collective bag of nerves we had to watch in the autumn. Carry on playing like this and we’ll be celebrating safety before the Easter eggs have been doled out.

@jameswelham

The team is starting to click, need to keep grinding out results and we WILL beat the drop!

@seasider_paul

We’re still at 2000/1 to win the league if you want to get on it

@JOSHBUTCHER1234

Was worried when I saw Olayinka and Macca were out but needn’t have worried. Really solid performance. Hobson gets better every week. Hart, ANG and Taylor also very good and a word for Dieng who impressed despite moving positions. One team in Essex!

@Jones616Kevin

I don’t care how we play right now as long as we are not losing. Actually we played ok. Ashley NG was standout and our set pieces are threatening after many years of not! We still have good players to come back. Optimistic - well cautiously anyway

@Bluntswood

Heroes all over the pitch but if Shaun Hobson does not get Blues player of the month then I want an inquest.

@phillsilver9

A significant change in style and better organisation has us looking much more competitive in every game. The players are looking ready for the fight and much more confident and comfortable in what they are being asked to do. An all round team performance. Well done MM.

@shrimperlee

Before the game I was worried, with a couple of players missing. But Southend played a tactically good game, not playing out from the back, being more direct and most importantly having a tempo pressing game on the Col U players as soon as they got the ball. Job done first half.

@jb181076

Two great goals. Unity in the team. We seem to have an identity and players are starting to show they can play that way. Still need some more experience in the team. Can taste 22nd position now but have a huge five weeks coming up.

@glentiesbhoy

Won the game in the first half with a clear game plan. Managed the game very well second half. Not to forget we were missing our two most influential players (Macca & Ola). MM learnt his early lessons and has adapted our playing style and his signings have been spot on so far.

@DonsEssex

MM has made us hard to beat. We actually look dangerous going forward as well. Hobson at the back had a great game, Taylor in the middle pulling strings. Second half was great game management. One team in Essex

@allen_bonesy

Really impressive result. Colchester never looked like they were going to score particularly in the second half. What a turnaround from the start of the season. Full credit to Molesley for the players he has brought in and the way he is setting up the team

@GarethRowe2

No nonsense from Hobson all game, ANG and Taylor were immense and ran the game. I'm just so glad that the embargo was paid up and we didn't wait until January because it just shows being able to get a couple of more experienced bodies in can make the difference. Happy for MM.

@SearchTerry

Five unbeaten, three wins in a row at home, clean sheet against that lot, and finally off the bottom of the table. Things are slowly looking better for us.

@TomRoss_

A proper gift for Christmas where every player executed their role superbly. ANG and Akinola deserve the plaudits but Hobson was my MOM

@prnapper

Always great to beat Colchester. This ones for you big Rich, R.I.P

@garymartin1981

Big credit to MM, the change in style, approach and attitude is working well. So good to see the team play in a much more aggressive style, pressing, pushing and not being so nice to play against. A collective team effort today & well deserved. Long way to go, but a great December.
