SOUTHEND United defender John White feels Mark Molesley is starting to change the Shrimpers' mentality.

Blues are now unbeaten in five games following their 2-0 victory against Colchester United on Boxing Day.

And White now believes things are starting to get back on track.

"The gaffer has changed the mentality," said White.

It was a horrible habit of losing we were used to for a long time here.

"But it’s started to turn around and he’s building us as a group.

"We’re getting stronger mentally and physically and we’re tighter. too.

"We also have that spine of experience through the team which can make a difference with the voices out there when things are going badly."

White certainly used his own experience to help Blues beat their Essex rivals.

And the defender was delighted to be back in action after spending almost a month on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.

"It’s always brilliant to get straight back on the pitch at the first opportunity," said White.

"For myself I’ve missed about three weeks now which has been frustrating for me personally.

"But we’re bubbling and getting stronger.

"You can really feel things are starting to shift but we have to keep setting high standards."

Blues will now be aiming for another positive result when they head to Leyton Orient on Tuesday.

But White has urged the Shrimpers to not get carried away by their recent results.

"Hopefully we can keep moving in the right direction and not getting complacent when things are going well," said White.

"We need to make winning our new habit but we can only do that by doing the fundamentals well and then adding that quality on top.

"Every game is important and we will give it everything we can to get another three points at Orient now."
