SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat at Leyton Orient.

Disappointing performance really, but let’s not let this take the shine off of December. We huffed and puffed and regardless of the issue of the yards allowed by the ref, Orient were good value for the win. We seemed leggy and flat footed. Let’s bounce back and win the next game.

@harrisufc

If any complacency had set in after the recent run, that was a stark reminder that we have a huge fight to stay up. Wall for the first goal was a joke, but thoroughly deserved to lose as were second best all night. Need to strengthen up front ASAP.

@Moorhouse79

One of the worst refereeing performances I've seen for some time but regardless of that, we didn't deserve anything from tonight. A poor team performance with the players looking tired and not at the races. Important to bounceback quickly.

@Strutty27

Disappointing and lacklustre display and beaten by the better side. We struggled to keep the ball and although the team worked hard were second best all night. Underlines that we’ve still got a long way to go to get ourselves out of the bottom two and up the league.

@tommyharris57

Poor performance off the back of the result on Boxing Day. We look very lacklustre from the start. Not much for Akinola to work with. Taylor & Macca were missed in the middle. We need to forget about this loss and start getting some more points on the board.

@Samdowsett_

Disappointed that we couldn't keep our run going. We rarely threatened. We missed Macca and Taylor . Hopefully we can get back on track at Newport Saturday.

@shrimpersaway

Shows that the depth of squad still needs work. Missing Kyle Taylor made a difference and no suitable replacement to step in. One touch too many when we did get in good positions shows that all the good work in December is just a foundation. We need to keep building.

@sjapresley

Sadly never got going, looked tired. Few chances we had but not many clear cut . And the free kick decision was poor from ref to not be able to count. But dust ourselves down and we go again.

@Callum63787699

Second best all evening. Players didn't seem up for it. McCormack and Kyle Taylor missed big time. The ref didn't help. The changes came too late, and should have been made at half time when it was obvious we weren't good enough.

@cjblues2505

JD is no midfield maestro, we so badly need a Barry Corr upfront.

@jervis_raymond

Seemed to be one game too many for some players in a hectic schedule with no one taking ownership against a pretty average side, but I am sure MM will regroup his improving squad and get them going again.

@phillsilver9

A yard off the pace in all areas. Back to a passive midfield with Dieng & JD as the middle pair, missed at least one of Taylor or Macca. Front players made too many poor decisions. This shouldn’t detract from the improvements we’ve seen this month. A bad day and move on.

@DonsEssex

Never really looked like getting anything from the game, other than Newport in the next game January looks like a massive month with 5/6 games to pick up vital points. Time to regroup and go again

@ToonBradders

After a tough but surprising month in which the lads have gone beyond expectations with five games on the bounce unbeaten we looked like this was just a step too much and the players looked exhausted which is understandable with a squad depth as shallow as ours.

@ShrimpersTalk

Looked tired - difference was in the quality of Conor Wilkinson and Jodi McAnuf and not just in the goals - we lacked any spark - however still improvement over a few weeks ago and we move on - could do with Newport being postponed.

@AndrewHackling

Looked tired and allowed them to play how they wanted to dominate the game. Had a few chances but nothing to shout about. Thought ANG looked good again but cant expect anything from long balls to Egbri or poor set pieces. Oh well, still happy with the past handful of games

@BlueBurger88

Struggled all over the pitch and couldn’t keep the ball well enough. Lacked the calmness and creativity of Kyle Taylor on the ball. Strength in recent games has been our closing down from the front and somehow we lacked the energy to do this as a group and we got picked off.

@crowesr2

Disappointing but we have come a long way in a month and we were still looking to score at 2-0 when previously we might have conceded more. Defensively we look a lot better.

@GarethRowe2

No where near the standard of the last couple of games, but was always going to be a big ask in the festive period. Hopefully the Newport game gets rescheduled so we can take a well needed rest.

@LiamGlover_

They started fast and had a game plan. We we’re fighting against it all night and weren’t really going to get anywhere. Ref was atrocious and needs a measuring stick.

@BayesRich

The kind of appalling performance that has happened all to often under MM. He must have signed more players than any other manager in League Two and yet we're still bottom. Time is nearly up for me when it comes to the manager.
