SOUTHEND United's Greg Halford has apologised for being sent off during the Shrimpers' 1-0 win against Barrow.

Halford, who was making his first start for Blues, was shown a second yellow card in the 52nd minute after bringing down Scott Quigley.

And Halford took to social media after the game to apologise.

He tweeted: "Just want to say a big sorry for the red card. The second wasn't a booking but with my experience I should never have given the ref the decision to make.

"Lads worked their socks off and deserved that three points."

Halford's dismissal was his first since being sent off for Rotherham United against Middlesbrough in March 2016.
