SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley is keen to keep Greg Halford at the club.
The 36-year-old’s initial one month contract has now expired with the Shrimpers.
But Molesley wants Halford to remain at Roots Hall, despite him being sent off against Barrow on Saturday.
“Greg was probably a little bit unlucky and that was probably his first start in about two years,” said Molesley.
“Greg’s shown his quality and his experience.
“He was a tad unlucky with the second yellow card and it’s not malicious.
“But he’s had 50 or 60 minutes and he will be fitter for it.
“It will put him in better shape to hopefully stay with us.”
Halford has made five appearances since signing for Blues in December and scored on his debut against Grimsby Town.
