SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 1-0 win against Barrow.

Not a great performance, and extremely stressful pacing round my house for the last 40 mins, but a huge win. Organisation when we went down to 10 very impressive. But for future games not sure a back three suits our defenders, would prefer a back four.

@Moorhouse79

A massive three points, a very determined and disciplined performance especially in the second half with 10 men. Every player dug ni deep and did not stop for the entire match. Finally having the experienced heads on the pitch is really showing. JD Man of the match for me.

@KetchleyShane

Great result in a crucial six pointer game. Solid defending from the whole team limited Barrow to very few chances. We looked more threatening up front too, but did miss a number of good chances. We just need to improve our away form now and mission impossible is possible now!

@tommyharris57

Beautiful. Strikers that have flair and are not afraid to run at defenders is exactly what we have needed alongside more squad depth in every position! We would have lost that months ago! Confident for the time being

@_KieranStaggs_

We’re producing results despite not playing at our best, and it’s such a promising sign. Tough, gritty performance to ensure it was the case again today. Great start for Reeco, and I’m becoming a huge fan of ANG. One point away now...

@samgoody23

The Southend team of earlier in the season would've folded eventually in that game. Decent work-rate, well organised.. It wasn't pretty though!

@banjosaviola

Not pretty but a massive three points. John White was immense today. Three at the back causes confusion and wing-backs never in the right place. Still need that big centre forward who can hold he ball.

@cjblues2505

Now looking very solid. The last two and a bit seasons we would have folded as soon as we went down to 10 men.Not entirely sure about the formation think better with a back four and flood the midfield. Everyone was an eight out of 10 Akinola worked tirelessly and held the ball up well.

@AdamMarsh000

The ugliest win for years but it's the points that matter. We did well to hang on having the 10 men...some big games to come in January hopefully this win will boost our confidence again.

@shrimpersaway

Thought we played well, apart from 15 mins in the first half when Barrow had their spell on top. Great early goal, controlled 30 mins in first half and apart from the stupid second booking of Halford, thought we looked organised and fit in the last 40 mins. Dieng my MOTM. Excellent.

@harrisufc

Another game of which, prior to December, we would have lost. Great effort and mentality from the squad. Yet another massive game next Saturday!

@SteveShelsher

Wing backs don’t work well with this squad as Hart’s defensive skills are poor. Still need experience up top to hold up the ball and join up the play. Defence and midfield worked hard. Barrow threatened little which helped.

@stevecaton66

I'd prefer a second goal to the time wasting personally! Solid battling performance from the lads, credit all of them, special mentions to the new boy, Reeco - can't ask for more than a debut goal - and skipper, John White on his 250th Blues appearance.

@Kaylalula

Was it pretty, no. Does it matter, no. Three huge points and we keep ourself in the battle. Few weeks ago we were dead and buried. Molesley deserves a lot of credit for that!

@mattysufc

We now have a ‘team’ that fights for each other and even with 10 men looked comfortable. A hard fought win and one which gives us optimism for getting away from the relegation places.

@BryanWoodford

Nail biting but ultimately satisfying. The team is unrecognisable from the feeble unit we saw before. There is a long way to go to safety so let’s not get carried away. Sweat and blood from Dieng,Hart and Demetriou.

@Bluntswood

Brilliant off the ball, pretty terrible with the ball. All that matters is the three points and bouncing back after the Orient game. John White was the stand out for me!

@DonsEssex

Torturous watch second half but three points is all that counts between now and when the season ends. Halford looked well off the pace for League Two football and the sending off could have been a blessing in disguise. JW is a hero.

@djmikejolly

I really liked this win. It's a long time since I've seen a Southend team capable of winning a game like this, which is what was needed after sending off. The shape was excellent defensively and well organised. Sim deserves a mention for holding the ball up so well on his own.

@thedove01

Hard fought win but a win is all we needed no matter how we played. Molesley has got to take a lot of praise for turning us around,game management is superb and he’s made us tough to beat! Just goes to show for all their possession after the red card Oxley had nothing to do.

@wheeliosmaximus

I would prefer to see 4-4-2 formation but excellent game management after going down to 10 men and restricted Barrow to a couple of weak headers really as chances. Perhaps should have scored a second but earlier in the season we would of lost that game.

@trevor_tricky

Game management was first class. Barrow had plenty off the ball but no end product. We gambled on the time wasting another day that could cost us but MM used his subs well and that bit of turf by the South East corner flag must now need replacing.

@phillsilver9

Grit, determination and hard graft. Tough game but all played really well. Limited Barrow to long range efforts when we went down to 10. Different class compared to 10 games ago.

@PJDW3

Most important result of the season and the boys deserve credit for seeing it out with 10 men. But I can’t say I was happy with the starting line up  (GH in defence) and If we had gone 4-4-2 and really gone at this team we would have beaten them at least 3-0.

@BlackshawPaul

Organised and resilient. We'd have lost this game before December. Only minor disappointment was the couple of clear chances we missed that would have put us out of sight thus avoiding the tense finish.
