KYLE Taylor has resumed training ahead of Southend United’s trip to Grimsby Town.

The on-loan Bournemouth midfielder has missed Blues’ last two matches after testing positive for coronavirus.

But Shrimpers boss Mark Molesley welcomed the 21-year-old back to training yesterday.

“Kyle Taylor trained yesterday which is great news but we have to be so careful,” said Molesley.

“He had side effects with Covid so his return to play will be monitored closely.”

Michael Klass, who had missed the last three games after having to self-isolate has also resumed training along with left-back Tom Clifford.

“Tom Clifford joined in training with the group yesterday, confirmed Molesley.

“It was great to see him back out there and Michael Klass was back too.

“The group is looking a lot stronger and we’ve never had so many bodies!”

Clifford has missed the last three matches after suffering an ankle problem during the 1-1 draw at Mansfield Town just before Christmas.

However, winger Terrell Egbri (hamstring) and striker Brandon Goodship (rib) are both still absent.

“It’s too soon for Brandon,” said Molesley.

“Unfortunately, Terrell hasn’t trained with his hamstring and we will have to let that settle before pushing him back into training.”

Nathan Ralph (cruciate ligament), Lewis Gard (cruciate ligament) and Harry Lennon (knee) are all still sidelined while Greg Halford will not feature.

The 36-year-old is now out of contract with Blues and is also suspended after being sent off against Barrow last time out.
