SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley remains determined to add to his squad during the January transfer window.

The Blues boss has brought in just one player in 2021 so far with Reeco Hackett-Fairchild signing on loan from Portsmouth.

But Molesley is still keen to bring in others as the Shrimpers bid to stay up.

“I’m really pleased with how the group is progressing,” said Molesley.

“When you go through a lot together it helps the team spirit but if the right person becomes available to enhance us we will look to do so.

“It must be the right character though.

“The lads have a special bond here but we have to be really clinical with who we bring in.

“It’s a tough market but with the games coming thick and fast we don’t want to be caught short like we were at the start of the season when it hurt us.”
