SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley is fearing for his future at the Shrimpers following this afternoon’s dire 5-1 defeat at Port Vale.
The bottom of the table Blues conceded four goals in a shocking first 45 minutes.
And, when asked if he was worried about remaining in charge, Molesley admitted: “Yes of course.
“When you win the players should take the responsibility for it and rightly so.
“But when you lose and you lose in that matter after a first half like that I’m aware I will carry the can for that.”
The setback was the Shrimpers’ fourth in succession but Molesley will not be walking away from the role and remains determined to turn things around.
“I’ve never gone short since I’ve been here,” said Molesley.
“Me and my staff work tirelessly but no-one wants to hear that, they just want results.
“We’re going to have to reflect, move on quickly and improve because that first half was just totally unacceptable.”
