SOUTHEND United boss Mark Molesley feels this afternoon’s depressing 5-1 defeat at Port Vale was the lowest moment of the season so far.

Blues remain bottom of the table after their fourth successive defeat.

And Molesley could not hide his frustration at the final whistle.

“It’s the lowest point we’ve hit,” said Molesley.

“It was a disastrous first half and anything that could’ve gone wrong did go wrong. “We were almost shell-shocked in that first half and it’s been a disastrous afternoon for us.”

Blues conceded four goals during a first half which left Molesley fuming.

“That first half was the worst performance we’ve had since we’ve been here,” said Molesley.

“We need to make sure it’s a one off.

“We can’t see a repeat of that ever again.

“It was like the Southend of old and we’ve hit a bit of a wall.

“But we have to dust ourselves our down and get ourselves back up very, very quickly.”
