MARK Molesley felt Nathan Ferguson’s debut was a rare bright spot for Southend United at Port Vale.
The Shrimpers slumped to a 5-1 defeat at Port Vale.
But Ferguson, who came on at half-time just a day after signing from Crawley Town, netted a fine effort from long range to earn praise from Molesley.
“That was the biggest spark for us really, what a great performance and a great goal,” said Molesley.
“If you could take any positive from that second half it was him.
“He got the goal and did well.”
