FORMER Southend United manager Chris Powell is favourite to take charge at AFC Wimbledon.

The League One side are on the look-out for a replacement for Glyn Hodges who left by mutual consent at the weekend.

And it is Powell, who also made 290 appearances for Blues as a player, who the bookmakers have as the 4/5 favourite to take over at the Dons.

Powell was in charge of the Shrimpers between January 2018 and March 2019, winning 24 of his 66 matches and losing 29.

Since his departure from Roots Hall, Powell spent time as assistant coach to Alan Pardew at ADO Den Haag in Holland before coaching in Tottenham Hotspur’s academy.

He is also part of Gareth Southgate’s backroom team with the senior England side.

The Dons are currently 22nd in the League One table.
