SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley was not willing to confirm if two more free-agents are currently training at the club.

Echosport understands striker Jay Simpson and winger Ricky Holmes have been in at Boots & Laces with Blues.

But, when asked about the duo, Molesley said: "As always we’re looking to add value, experience and quality to our squad and the players mentioned have them in abundance.

"It’s very early days and I wouldn’t like to name anyone.

"Our stance hasn’t changed.

"We will continue to work as hard as we can with the players we’ve got but if someone was to become available who we think would strengthen us we would certainly look at that."

Striker Nile Ranger had been training with Blues but he remains sidelines with a calf injury.

"Nile has a very minor strain at the moment," said Molesley.

"Hopefully he will be able to train with the group soon and try and prove his worth."
