NEWPORT County boss Michael Flynn felt his side should have beaten Southend United at Rodney Parade tonight.

The Shrimpers moved off the foot of the table with a 1-0 win.

And Flynn was a frustrated figure after seeing County miss out on the chance to move into the automatic promotion places.

“We should have won that game, we missed three sitters and it was a very poor performance,” said Flynn.

“It is very frustrating because with Cambridge losing we missed out on a chance to go second in the table.

"It was nowhere near what I expect from my team or what I want from them.

“We didn’t win enough balls in midfield and we need to play with a lot more quality.

"But just as I didn’t get carried away when we were top of the League, I’m not going to get too down over our current run, although it does concern me.

“People will look to write us off, but we’ll crack on and be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.”
