SIMEON Akinola hopes to be fit enough to face Bolton Wanderers this weekend.
Akinola was forced off against Cambridge United on Saturday after a lengthy spell of treatment following what appeared to be a clash of heads with U’s defender Jubril Okedina.
But the Shrimpers striker has resumed training and has now set his sights on taking on the Trotters at Roots Hall.
“I’m feeling a lot better now and thankfully there wasn’t any concussion or anything too serious,” said Akinola.
“I’ve done all the tests and protocols but I have to keep taking them for the rest of the week.
"I was able to train yesterday and today as well so I should be totally fine for Saturday.”
Akinola has scored twice in 13 games for Blues this season.
