JAY Simpson is still training at Southend United.
The former Leyton Orient forward has been without a club so far this season.
But Blues boss Mark Molesley will continue to run the rule over the 32-year-old.
“Jay’s trained with us this week and has continued to impress,” said Molesley.
“We ran the rule over him in a game this week but he’s another one who has been out of the game for a long time.
“What I can say is that he’s been professional and looked after himself.
“But we need to build up him a little bit and find his football legs so to speak.”
Blues have already signed both Ricky Holmes and Nile Ranger after they impressed in training.
And Molesley will continue to look at Simpson.
“We will continue to monitor that one but he’s certainly someone who is impressing us,” said the Shrimpers boss.
“He’s got good pedigree without a shadow of a doubt, but until we’ve done something I can’t really comment too much on that one.”
