SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley feels Nile Ranger is still a week away from being able to return to action with Southend United.

The striker was not in the squad for Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Bolton Wanderers at Roots Hall.

And Molesley believes Ranger needs more work on the training ground before he can be called upon.

"Nile’s probably about a week away now," said Molesley.

"He trained this morning and he trained a little bit yesterday too.

"He’s still coming back from a slight calf issue and we need to get a bit more work behind him at the moment."

Ranger completed a return to Blues earlier this week having previously scored 10 goals in 49 games during his first spell which ended in January 2018.
