SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley heaped praise on his side following tonight’s stunning 3-1 win at Forest Green Rovers.

The victory – which came courtesy of three impressive goals, saw the Shrimpers move out of the relegation zone.

And Molesley was full of smiles at the final whistle.

“It was a good performance from us but it had to be,” said Molesley.

“Forest Green would have gone if they beat us tonight and they play a very good brand of football.

“But we were organised and we got what we deserved.”

Shaun Hobson, Timothee Dieng and Nathan Ferguson all netted for Blues.

And Molesley, whose side had scored five goals in their previous 10 games, was pleased with the attacking improvements.

"We see that in them every day and it’s nice to see it coming together a little bit," said Molesley.

"We asked a lot of questions of them and we had more crosses and shots which was key but it has to continue as we expect that level of performance from ourselves.”

However, Molesley was not sure if the display was the best of the season so far.

“I’m not sure, it’s still quite quick after it all,” said Molesley.

“We had some great performances at the start of the season and didn’t get points.

“We had a great performance at Tranmere and lost 2-0.

“But we’ve got a stronger underbelly now and we’re more organised too.”
