SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley seems to have cooled his interest in striker Jay Simpson.
The experienced striker had been training with the Shrimpers in recent weeks.
But, having already assembled a large squad, Molesley is unable to promise the former Leyton Orient forward first team football.
"Jay is one we did have a good look at but at the moment the squad is very strong and it’s hard to offer guaranteed first team football to people now," said Molesley.
"Jay is someone we like the look of and we will continue to monitor that situation.
"But right here, right now we’ve got to concentrate on the players who are signed and we’ve got a lot of them fighting for a shirt now."
