SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley felt his side picked up a 'good point' against Salford City at Roots Hall.

The Shrimpers secured a 0-0 to move two points clear of the relegation zone.

And Molesley was pleased by another determined display against their play-off chasing opponents.

"On reflection it was a good point and we’re continuing to be competitive in every game," said Molesley.

"With the win on Wednesday at Forest Green and the draw today it’s four points from two games and most people would’ve taken that.

"The pitch was quite dry and tough for both teams so sometimes it was low on quality but we weren’t low on effort and application.

"We made it a tough afternoon for them and that’s all we can do at the moment.

"We have to keep working hard and it’s another point gained."

However, the Shrimpers lost three players to injury with goalkeeper Alex Bass and striker Nile Ranger both having to go off along with forward Simeon Akinola who was still being treated when Molesley conducted his post-match interview.

"Sim is in with Amy and we will have to see how he settles," said Molesley.

"It’s his leg but I’ve yet to get the full feedback.

"I’ll know more when I go in now."
