SOUTHEND United will look to bring in another goalkeeper on loan after Alex Bass was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Bass, who joined on loan from Portsmouth, was injured on his Blues' debut against Salford City on Saturday.

And, with Harry Seaden now the only fit remaining goalkeeper in the first team squad, Shrimpers boss Mark Molesley will now look to bring in a replacement.

"We were really pleased with Harry Seaden’s second half performance but we are light in that department now," said Molesley.

"We will have to wait and see how we move forward with that one.

"We’ve got a fantastic goalkeeper (George Murray-Jones) coming through the ranks but the bottom of League Two for a 16-year-old is a very tough ask.

"We might have to look to do something but finding a good quality keeper is easier said than done.

"Good quality keepers are starting or they’re number two so clubs won’t let them out.

"It’s difficult because we’re going to have to find one to give us sufficient cover that is for sure."

And Blues will only be able to bring in a goalkeeper from a Football League club.

"You can’t use the Premier League," confirmed Molesley.

"They have a lot more goalkeepers than anyone else and it’s frustrating because their number threes are normally fantastic goalkeepers.

"They would like games as well to top themselves up but it’s not possible unfortunately."
