SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley will check the Shrimpers’ injury situation before considering making a swoop for Jay Simpson.
The former Leyton Orient forward had been training with Blues.
But, when asked on Monday if he had space in the squad to make a move for Simpson, Molesley said: “At the moment we’re quite high on our numbers so we will have to see the extent of the injuries.
“We will see how the week goes for Nile (Ranger), James Olayinka and Terrell (Egbri).
“We’ve got plenty of ammunition behind us ready to step in.”
