SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley remains happy with the attacking options at his disposal.

Nile Ranger has been ruled out for the season with a groin problem.

But Molesley, who had been having a look at former Leyton Orient striker Jay Simpson, still feels he has enough quality to call upon.

“At the moment I’m happy with what’s around me and I think we have good options,” said Molesley.

“Brandon (Goodship) is coming back from injury now and he’s getting fitter and stronger so we do have quite a few striking options in and around us.

“But if we do feel like the time is right and that the squad is getting tested further then we might have to look at that.

“But in the last few weeks we’ve had more depth than we’ve usually had.

“There’s still competition for places but if that drastically changes then we will look to add the right person.”

The Shrimpers have failed to score in four of their last five games and have scored just 21 goals in 32 League games this season.
