SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley will make a late check on Elvis Bwomono's fitness ahead of Saturday's match at Oldham Athletic.
The Shrimpers right-back missed Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat at Cheltenham Town with a calf problem.
And Molesley is still not sure whether or not Bwomono will be back for the clash at Boundary Park.
"We will have to take a late check on Elvis," said Molesley.
"He wasn’t ready for Tuesday and we have to be careful at this stage of the season because we can’t afford to go too early on anyone.
"I can’t risk losing Elvis for a longer period by overdoing it.
"It’s a slight muscle strain but you have to be so careful.
"One or two days too early and it could be two or three months before he's back.
"We will give him the time to recover and heal.
"If he’s not back Saturday then we will revisit it Tuesday and hopefully he’s not too far away."
