SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 0-0 draw at Oldham Athletic.

We need to start with the same 11 (barring injuries) every game with a 4-4-2 formation then maybe just maybe we can retain our League status. Two points dropped due to manager's decisions again

@clarebear62_b

Disappointed not to win as we created more than enough chances to win the game. Performances are getting better and we are creating chances from open play. Just need everyone to be braver from the players on the pitch to the manager and coaches on the sidelines.Long way to go.

@crowesr2

Really enjoyed the performance Can’t really say it’s negative tactics when you have four golden chances. At the same time the subs MM has made he is thinking of the sucker punch and lose 1-0 rather than win. Draws fine away but home wins required please ASAP.

@AdamMarsh000

We looked decent in possession and created chances but yet again we lacked that finish. Oldham were there for the taking and we weren't good enough. We look a long way from being able to win matches which will get us to that likely safety target of 45/6 points, very worrying.

@shrimpersaway We looked ineffective going forward once Emile went off. Great defence again and Tom coming on leaps and bounds at LB.

@prnapper

MM is scared to lose but has little faith in his team to be able to win a game. He says he is happy with his striking options if that really is true then he shouldn’t be managing this team. Holmes is clearly unfit or he would have played. We are running out of games fast.

@jervetheswerve1

Subs pathetic choice, really can’t understand his rational with two strikers on bench and brings on three defenders and wonders why we struggled in final third.

@alan_bakewell

Loads of away comms teams saying the home team haven’t played well. They can’t all have coincidentally played badly against us, that must be us restricting them. But we don’t score!

@WahlbergBlue

Too many players through no fault of their own are not Football League standard. MM clearly does not want to say in public what is really happening and by doing so he is looking a fool. Happy with strikers. Nonsense. Four shots on goal in two games says it all. Relegation.

@stevecaton66

Alarm bells are starting to ring with the severe lack of ambition. MM talks about the attacking options available and opts not to use them. Holmes was performing well in the League above until December, certainly looks like he’s not fancied here. Three points Tuesday is an absolute must!

@ScottyBarber12

Massive chance to get three points missed . Players seem scared to shoot and go forward. Substitutions beyond perplexing could be classed as baffling. Sadly we may look back on this game at the end of the season and the result could haunt us for a long time to come.

@bloss_kevin

When is MM going to realise this is professional football where points matter? It's no good talking about a good performance and looking solid when we need goals .

@GarryGazzacat

We at the business end of the season and goals is the major issue as has been all season. Good we have sorted out the goals against but no good if the goals for column is blank. I hope we see more adventurous attitude at home or we back in the mire.

@onlytheburge

Poor substitutions cost us in a game that was ours for the taking. Yes Mark and the lads performed miracles to get us out of the nosedive during late last year but all responsibility this afternoon lays at his door.

@ShrimpersTalk

We can't squander chances when they are so rare. Finishing was poor. Didn't get why Holmes was left on the bench and not brought on when we made our subs. Cordner and Clifford both very good.

@Kaylalula

Defensively we’re sound which is great to see but going forward it’s far too weak. Need to get more bodies forward, either through playing two up front or allowing one of the midfielders to play higher. Should’ve won with the chances. Subs v odd, why no Holmes or Goodship? Strange

@Ljarvis27

Predictably lacklustre, set up for a 0-0 in the hope of nicking a win. Oldham are a dreadful side in the lowest quality league for many years. The manager is picking and playing players out of position and ignoring his own signings. Makes a mockery of his recruitment.

@JasonHo94454369

Looking tight again,which is a huge plus point. The back five, including GK looked assured and well drilled.We play better with Ferguson in the midfield for me, it allows Dieng to play more advanced. Subs were strange. He’s scared to lose games, so we won’t gamble to get three points.

@harrisufc

Molesley’s explanations make less sense than his substitutions. If our “height” was bothering Oldham why replace Acquah with ANG not Halford? And later in a game we were controlling why not make like for like changes? Holmes for Kyle, Goodship for Sim.”Tactical” nonsense MM.

@BryanGOBsmacked

Set up pretty well for first hour. Missed a number of guilt edged chances and looked comfortable at the back. The subs were bizarre/poor and once again lost our way. Two points dropped. I would keep four of this squad next year if we went down, tells you all you need to know.

@DonsEssex

Another frustrating afternoon. Acquah will take the share of the blame as he should do. Had to score at least twice. Bizarre thing is though as soon as he came off we created less as MM did his usual batch of substitutions, with not much thought behind them and ruined the shape.

@DKSaville

Another blank due to MM negative subs. We are on course to score the fewest goals in the club's history. The lowest number of goals scored by Blues was 34 during the 1921/22 season. Based on our current scoring record of a goal every 141 minutes we will eclipse that record.

@Johnfrench52Sky

We have to win these games if we’re going to get into a position where it’s in our own hands. On another day we might have nicked a 1-0 but if it’s not happening we need to force the issue. Not worth signing players like Holmes unless we’re going to put them on the pitch.

@GoneShrimping

Molesley's been backed post embargo and I couldn’t name a decent signing out of them. The players are injury prone, unfit, old and past their best or young and disinterested. Where is Mellis? Why doesn’t Holmes play? Why didn’t we sign a proper striker in January? MM out or we’re gone.

@JasonHo94454369

Two points dropped against a woeful side. Subs were perplexing. Goodship and Holmes could've won that game for us.

@PJDW3

Played so well until we got to the final third. Acquah had enough chances to on his own, but was shockingly poor. MM said that he thought we have enough ammunition at the club and yet he leaves Goodship and Holmes on the bench when Oldham were there for the taking. Clueless!

@BigShrimp

The game was there for the taking but some baffling substitutions made sure that didn’t happen. We have no one that can shoot it seems.

@Davemallam

Non league manager guiding us to non league status. Another game that was there for the taking and he brings on two defenders, shocking.

@SheldonW65

Subs all wrong! We need to win games, to do that you need to score so bringing on defensive players will not help. It’s not rocket science, it’s football.

@Benbishop15

A game we totally should have won. We had countless good chances and didn't take them. The substitutions in the second half did not make sense at all. How we did not win that game is beyond me. Two points dropped not one gained.

@KetchleyShane

A game we could have and should have won. Clifford was outstanding, fast becoming my player of the season.

@SteveShelsher

Frustrating, a game we should have won. Clifford was immense. You can see how defence and midfield have improved. Still too many long balls bypassing midfield straight to their defence. We all know where we aren't strong enough, must finish these games off to survive.

@thedove01

Frustrating. Massive missed opportunity and two points dropped against a poor team. Defensively we're great but we won't stay up without putting chances away and winning games. Braver subs needed when the game is there to be won, why are Holmes/Goodship still sitting in the bench?

@jmpschooley

A perfect away performance except for one thing. We can’t score! We should have won easily against a poor Oldham side with the chances we had. Desperate for a goal so MM puts on Halford & Demetriou rather than Holmes & Goodship! Defence solid now but lack of goals is killing us.

@tommyharris57

Two points dropped. Once again we’ve created chances but not taken them. MM decisions questionable. Incredibly frustrating.
