SOUTHEND United midfielder Alan McCormack has an 'outside chance' of facing Tranmere Rovers at Roots Hall tomorrow.

McCormack missed Saturday's 0-0 draw at Oldham Athletic due to an ankle problem.

But Blues boss Mark Molesley is hopeful the 37-year-old will soon be back in action.

"We’re hoping it was a just a twinge on an old injury which required an operation so we have to be a little bit careful," said Molesley.

"The treatment and rest over the weekend has certainly helped but he’s speaking to the surgeon on Tuesday morning so hopefully that will give us more clarity.

"He’s had a good weekend off with it and he’s feeling a lot better.

"He might have an outside chance of being involved tomorrow, subject to what the specialist says."
