SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley admits it is not always possible to keep his large squad happy.

The Shrimpers boss has 22 players vying for selection against Walsall on Tuesday night.

But Molesley is pleased to have so many options available.

"It’s a tricky balance but we haven’t had that luxury before," said Molesley.

"We are leaving players out now and it’s up to those who get the shirt to keep the shirt.

"You do try and keep everyone happy as much as you can but it’s not always possible.

"We were painfully hurt by our injuries at the start of the season and we’re probably carrying a heavier squad than you would do usually but it's good to have.

"Everyone has their part to play on and off the pitch to keep driving each other.

"You’ve got to be a good player on the pitch and a good team-mate off of it."

The 22 players vying for selection on Tuesday: Oxley, McCormack, Hobson, Cordner, Olayinka, Dieng, Akinola, Goodship, Egbri, Clifford (late fitness test), Seaden, Hackett-Fairchild, Acquah, Nathaniel-George, Halford, Demetriou, K Taylor, Mellis, Holmes, Hart, Ferguson & White
