JACOB Ford has stepped down as Westcliff’s director of rugby.

Ford helped Westcliff stay in National Two South last season.

But a club statement has now confirmed Ford will be moving on.

The statement said: “We are sad to announce the departure of our director of rugby and first team head coach Jacob Ford.

“Jacob has decided that now is the right time to leave and further progress his career.

“Jacob’s contribution to the development of the club was unquestionable.

“In his first season with us and our first team’s first season in National Two South, his energy, methods and attention to detail helped our lads turnaround a losing season, to one where we challenged the top clubs and secured our place in the league for the following year.”

And Ford was also praised for his work away from the first team.

The statement added: “As well as bringing his skill set to the first team, he supported the Lionesses and was instrumental in developing the youth pathway.

“We would like to thank Jacob for all that he has done at the club and we wish him success and happiness with his career.”
