PASSIONATE Southend United supporter Kerry Fairless has been left feeling overwhelmed by the reaction to his part in an online video which has already been viewed 28,000 times.

Fairless has been watching Blues since 1976.

And, with the Shrimpers struggling on and off the pitch, Fairless jumped at the chance to team up with Copa 90 for the recording which sees him reading out his frustrations towards the club’s chairman Ron Martin.

“I’ve been completely overwhelmed by the reaction because I wasn’t sure how it would be perceived,” said Fairless.

“The response has been overwhelming and I’ve had people get in touch I hadn’t spoken to in ages, including a mate in Australia who had seen it over there.

“I’ve had 30 Facebook friend requests which is a lot for me and I’ve been really surprised by it.

“I couldn’t possibly reply to everyone because I’d have been there all day but it’s been incredible and so many people have said it’s hit the nail on the head.”

Blues are currently fighting to maintain their Football League status and sit second from bottom in the League Two standings with just eight games to go.

But Fairless was keen to remain calm when talking of his team’s turmoil.

“I deliberately didn’t go gung-ho with it,” said Fairless.

“As I say in the video we don’t have a right for anything but I just don’t think Ron understands how not paying the debts puts you down towards the bottom of the table and I think he’s completely blinded by the new stadium too.

“But once you scratch the surface you’re not really too sure what benefits a new stadium will have for the club either.

“It’s sad."
