SIMEON Akinola was forced to miss tonight’s 1-1 draw at Morecambe due to a groin injury.

The striker, who missed a penalty in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against Carlisle United, had started four of Blues’ last five games.

But Blues boss Mark Molesley was unable to select the forward against the Shrimps.

"Sim had a slight groin strain but that’s been the story since we’ve been here,” said Molesley.

“That’s been the scenario and that’s why I’m so proud of the boys.

“We’re not in a great position and we get knocks.

“We had a bad Saturday and have a lot of players missing but we rally and fight.

“They’re showing the spirit and we’re hoping we’re saving our luck for these last remaining games.”

And Molesley also confirmed Jacob Mellis missed out against Morecambe due to injury.

“Jacob was missing with a slight injury too,” he added.
