SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is hopeful Timothee Dieng will fit enough to face Leyton Orient this weekend.
Dieng injured his hamstring against Crawley Town in Brown's first game back as Blues boss and will not be available for Tuesday night's Essex derby with Colchester United.
However, Brown is confident the 29-year-old will not be out for too much longer.
"Timothee Dieng is out with the hamstring he got against Crawley but I’m hoping he will be back out on the training ground by the end of the week," said Brown.
"That would be a massive boost for us.
"He can play all positions down the spine of the team and he will be a big asset in another tough encounter with Leyton Orient."
