SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown insists his future at the club will not depend on whether or not the Shrimpers stay up this season.

Brown has returned to Roots Hall for the final six games of the current campaign in a bid to keep Blues up.

But, when asked if the outcome of the relegation fight would decide if stayed with the Shrimpers for longer, Brown said: “It’s not part of the decision making process at the moment.

“As far as I’m concerned there’s a lot of work to be done between now and May 8th before any talks are tabled.

“I’m just desperate to get this survival campaign well and truly up and running.

“A successful end to the season would certainly open negotiations. An unsuccessful end? I have no idea what Ron Martin would be thinking but I took the six games to put me in the same boat as the players.”

Blues are back in action at Colchester United on Tuesday night.
