ECHOSPORT talks to Colchester United fan Tom Leggett ahead of tonight's Essex derby with Southend United.

Colchester are currently 22nd in the League Two table. What have you made of the season so far?

"This season has been an overwhelming disappointment for me and all Col U fans.

"After getting into the play-offs last season the hope was to equal or better it this time round but for whatever reason that hasn’t happened."

Why do you feel things haven't gone to plan?

"It’s baffling as to why we’ve struggled so badly this season.

"I know that confidence has been at an all time low for the majority and as soon as we concede you can see heads dropping all over the park."

Colchester did win against Walsall on Saturday though. Do you feel safe from relegation now or do you feel there are more twists and turns to come?

"I’m 95 per cent sure we’re already safe but a win tonight would cement that.

"But with three more games to follow I think it could all be on the line right up to the final day."

So how important do you feel tonight's game is?

"I think tonight’s game is arguably the biggest in the history of both clubs.

"I think whoever wins will ultimately stay up as the boost of three points plus the added bonus of a derby match win will bolster the confidence of either team!

"Now I’ve said that it’ll probably end up a draw!"

Who would you say is the dangerman?

"We have a few and on their day they are unplayable!

"Clampin at left back with his attacking runs forward is enjoying a rich vein of form currently.

"Wiredu our young attacking midfielder has been a real ray of sunshine in what’s been predominantly overcast season, and you can never count out Nouble popping up with a stroke of genius."

What's the team news?

"It’s been quiet in the ColU camp since our victory on Saturday and hopefully we will stick to the same starting 11 that triumphed magnificently against Walsall as you should never change a winning team."
