FORMER Southend United star Stan Collymore is keen to come to the rescue of the Shrimpers.
Collymore is regarded by many to be Blues’ best ever player.
And, in the aftermath of Tuesday night’s 2-0 painful defeat to Colchester United, Collymore tweeted he would put a team together to buy the club – if chairman Ron Martin was willing to sell.
Collymore tweeted: “Shrimpers, you gave me the happiest days of my football life. In 93 our team stayed in the Championship with fight and passion. Today the club is a mess.
"If Ron will sell, I will put a team together to buy and give you back a competitive club.”
Collymore scored 18 goals in 33 games for Blues during the 1992/93 season and has regularly spoken of his fondess for club since his departure.
