THE historic birthplace of Southend United is showing its fury towards the club’s demise.
The Shrimpers were formed at the Blue Boar pub back in 1906, just yards from its current Roots Hall ground.
But Blues are now on the brink of falling out of the Football League for the first time in 100 years.
And landlady Michelle Gargate felt it was appropriate for the pub to show its displeasure.
“With the Blue Boar currently closed until the 17th May, we decided temporarily amending our posters and plaque is a great way to make a statement about the plight of the club,” said Gargate.
“The Blue Boar is a huge part of the club’s history which is something we’re proud of and it’s so sad to see what’s happening at the moment.”
