THE Jimmy Greaves Football Academy is on the move.
For the past three years the academy has been successfully run at Beauchamps High School.
But it will now be switching to the Basildon Sport and Social Club and is also teaming up with Puma Teamwear Performance Pathway Academy.
They will be providing the educational arm where the 16 players will also be studying BTEC level two/three sport and science or a level three NCFE programme.
And Danny Greaves is looking forward to the new set up.
“Puma Teamwear Performance Pathways Academy have successfully run NCFE at a number of colleges and clubs in Suffolk,” said Greaves, who will head up the academy.
“This gives the boys a great opportunity to have an experienced teacher help them achieve the highest grades possible within a small class.
“Both BTEC and NCFE study programmes will allow the students to achieve the correct level of UCAS points to enrol into a degree course.”
And the academy will also be spending plenty of time on the pitch.
“The boys will train every day and play matches in a competitive league on a Wednesday afternoon,” said Greaves.
“The coaching will be carried out by myself, a UEFA A Licensed coach, who has many years of experience at all different levels. “We will also be bringing in a second coach, who has played at a high level. Puma Teamwear Performance Pathways Academy will be holding trials where a number of scouts will attend.
These will take place on Wednesday May 12 at 5.30pm and Tuesday June 1 at 11am, both at the Basildon Sport and Social Club.
