SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown revealed the size of next season’s budget will help to decide whether or not he stays on as Blues boss.

The Shrimpers will be in the National League next season.

And Brown, who has returned to Roots Hall for the final six games of the campaign, will now be mulling over whether or not he should stay put.

“If we can be competitive from a budget point of view that might be enough to attract me and players to the football club who can compete,” said Brown.

“Would I like to be involved in the challenge? Absolutely and I’d imagine there will be talks after the last game of the season.”

Blues complete a disappointing campaign at home to Newport County on Saturday.
