SOUTHEND United chairman Ron Martin has revealed he will soon be appointing a new chief executive.
Blues have not filled the role since Steve Kavanagh departed towards the end of 2016.
But Martin will be holding talks with two possible candidates, including one he has already met alongside Stan Collymore.
"We are definitely going to have a CEO," confirmed Martin
"The guy Stan recommended to me was a very nice guy.
"He has some good experience and was very ameniable and affuable.
"I wrote to him earlier this morning.
"He knows I’m seeing one other person next Wednesday and by the end of the next week I said to him I hope to come to a decision and I hope it’s positive.
"We will have a CEO and it may well be the person I saw with Stan.
"He seemed to a very good person and very stable."
However, Martin did not rule out employing both applicants.
"I do want to see this other person who I have met previously," said Martin.
"I’m seeing him in London and I’ll make a decision immediately after that.
"The second candidaite is a lot older and has a huge amount of experience.
"I might employ them both."
