SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown knows the Shrimpers fully deserve to be relegated but will not stop chairman Ron Martin appealing against it.
Martin has joined Grimsby Town in submitting a proposal to the EFL suggesting relegation from League Two is unfair due to the fact no teams will be going down from the National League this season.
But Brown was unaware of any appeal.
“It’s the first I’ve heard of it and it’s interesting to say the least,” said Brown.
“We are what we are and as far as I’m concerned the game is won and lost on that green baize.
“If we’ve been relegated then it’s what we deserve.
“But if there’s a legality or a loophole that can be investigated then I won’t tell my chairman not to look into it because everyone here would rather be in League Two than the National League.”
