CLOSE to 80 per cent of Southend United supporters are keen for Phil Brown to stay in charge, according to an Echosport poll.

The vote – which saw 2,023 fans have their say, was heavily in favour of Brown remaining at Roots Hall.

And Shrimpers supporter Mark Nattrass was among those wanting Brown to stay.

“He knows how to get results in tough battling leagues,” said Nattrass.

“The difference in style was clear on his return. Lets keep him.”

Matthew Marr added: “I wasn’t happy with the appointment but the change in results has proved me wrong and changed my mind.

“I would 100 per cent love if he stayed and would be very confident he can get us back up.

“With the correct backing hopefully he’ll get the squad he wants and we’ll be back.”

Brown previously spent five years in charge of Blues before being dismissed in January 2018.

The 61-year-old returned for the final six games of the season but was unable to stop the Shrimpers falling into the National League.
