SOUTHEND United remain in talks with Tyler Cordner.

The defender, who ended last season on loan with the Shrimpers, is looking for a new club after leaving Bournemouth.

And Blues boss Phil Brown would like to bring the 22-year-old back to Roots Hall on a permanent basis.

"We’re in talks with Tyler and we need to be carrying three centre halves minimum next season," said Brown.

"We’re talking to Tyler but we’re also talking to two or three other centre halves as well.

"The one thing about Tyler is that I think he can play in a couple of positions which is something he proved towards the end of the season.

"With that in mind it would be nice if we could get Tyler over the line and it’s always nice to get a player who can play in a couple of positions because he understands the game.

"We’re in talks but I don’t know how close or how far away anything is with him right now."

Cordner made 14 appearances while on loan with Blues last season.
