CRICKET: Hadleigh & Thundersley returned to winning ways in the Premier Division with a four wicket win at Chingford.

Chingford were dismissed for 160 in their innings with Hadleigh’s Richard Revell taking four wickets for 33 runs before the visitors reached the required total for the loss of six wickets.

And Hadleigh skipper Adam Dobson was pleased to pick up another victory.

“It was great to bounce back with a win this week and put in a really good performance,” said Dobson.

“We bowled really well and probably could have restricted Chingford even more, but we would have definitely taken that run chase at the start of the game.

“I loved the way we paced our innings and batted without giving many chances.

“Thankfully it ended up being comfortable at the end and we were able to get the 20 points.”

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Billericay suffered a 91 run defeat against Chelmsford.

In Division One, there was success for Old Southendian & Southchurch who beat Woodford Wells by two wickets Woodford were dismissed for 181 before Old Southendian made it home for the loss of eight wickets with Ahmed Khawaja top scoring with 41.

In Division Two, table-topping Wickford beat Orsett & Thurrock by four wickets.

Orsett were bowled out for 149 before 53 from Ronnie McKenna helped to see Wickford home.

Second placed Leigh on Sea also triumphed, beating Frenford by 32 runs and there was also success for third placed Westcliff as they saw off bottom of the table Southend & EMT by seven wickets. Benfleet, in sixth, suffered a 159 run defeat at Gidea Park & Romford.
