SOUTHEND United have signed former Yeovil Town striker Rhys Murphy.

The 30-year-old forward scored 13 goals for the Glovers in the National League last season but has now sealed his switch to the Shrimpers, signing a two year deal with the option of a third.

Murphy netted 20 goals in 33 appearances for Yeovil during the 2019/20 season and has 94 career goals to his name after also enjoying spells with a number of other clubs including Dagenham & Redbridge and Oldham Athletic.

Blues boss Phil Brown was desperate to strengthen his strike-force after inheriting a shot shy side that managed to score just 29 goals in 46 League games last season.
