SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is still keen to keep Ricky Holmes with the Shrimpers.
The winger, who remains in pre-season training with Blues, has yet to sign a new deal to remain at Roots Hall.
But boss Brown confirmed talks with the 34-year-old were continuing.
"It’s still in the throws of the chairman giving it the nod," said Brown.
"Ricky has impressed me with his attitude and mentality but that’s always been the case with him.
"I’m hoping we will be able to sit down and get a deal drafted up tomorrow."
The experienced Holmes made 14 appearances for Blues after signing for his home-town club in February.
