SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown was disappointed he could not give any minutes to striker Matt Rush at Great Wakering Rovers.
The youngster was an unused substitute in the 2-0 win at Burroughs Park.
But Brown believes Rush has a bright future with Blues.
“I was disappointed in myself that I couldn’t give Rushy any minutes,” said Brown.
“But he did enough in the last six games of last season for me to know what I’ve got.
“I’ve got a player there with a great future at this football club and I had a word with him after the game.
“He will certainly be getting minutes either Friday or Saturday.”
