A CRICKET match will be taking place at Southchurch Park on Sunday to raise awareness of mental health issues.
Run Free, a support group who uses the power of sport to help those suffering with depression and anxiety, will be facing Southend & EMT in a 30 over contest.
And Run Free captain Ryan Creasey cannot wait for the match to get underway.
“We did this game last year and it went really well so we’re really looking forward to Sunday,” said Ryan.
“Quite a few of our group haven’t really played cricket before so it’s going to be a good laugh but the main thing is getting the message out there about what we do to help those suffering with mental health issues.
“We will again be fundraising for SECE Mind to help support the great work they do in the area and we’re really grateful to Southend & EMT for all their help with this game too.
“We have a great partnership with them and it will be another fun day.”
Run Free will again have Southend United legend Steve Tilson in their side.
And Southend & EMT’s Scott Elliott is also looking forward to the latest rematch.
“It went really well last year,” said Scott.
“The game was a success and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
“From there we’ve established a partnership with Run Free and it’s gone well.
“Their logo is on our shirts and we do a lot together.
“But it’s just about having fun and enjoying the day.”
The match gets underway at 2pm and will also be shown live on YouTube.
