SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is keen to keep Norwich City youngster Matt Dennis at the club.

The 19-year-old, who can play out wide or as a striker, has lined up for the Shrimpers in pre-season.

And Brown would like Dennis to remain at Roots Hall.

"I’d like to keep Matt Dennis as I think he’s a starter for us at the moment," said Brown.

"The decision will be finalised tomorrow after training but he has another couple of National League clubs in for him.

“But I don’t want to miss out on him.

“He can play left side, striker, number nine, 11, 10 and seven.

“He covers all bases and has pace.”

Dennis, who scored from the penalty spot against Harlow Town on Saturday, is also believed to be attracting interest from King’s Lynn and Solihull Moors.
