SOUTHEND United striker Simeon Akinola has been told he is free to leave the club.

The 28-year old scored twice in 24 games last season.

But Shrimpers boss Phil Brown is keen for the forward to move on.

"I made it quite clear at the end of last season that he wasn’t my cup of tea," said Brown.

“With that in mind I’ve asked him and his agent to find himself another club.”

Akinola started for Blues' under 23 side at Canvey Island on Tuesday night.
