RICKY Holmes' future remains unclear at Southend United.
The winger, who has yet to sign a new deal with the Shrimpers, came on during the second half of Wednesday night's 3-2 defeat to Brentford.
But Blues boss Phil Brown revealed it will not be him who decides whether or not the 34-year-old remains at Roots Hall.
"I’m waiting for the chairman to give it the nod but I don’t think Ricky can do anymore," said Brown.
"He’s had three weeks where he’s basically been on trial and everyone knows what he’s capable of.
“I’m waiting for the chairman to give it the all clear and at the moment that’s not the case.”
