CRICKET: Billericay sit bottom of the Premier Division table after suffering a 113 run defeat against Harold Wood.

Harold Wood batted first and made 215/7 with Andy Smith, David Houghton and Ross Poulton all taking two wickets each.

But, in reply, Billericay made just 102 with opener Houghton top scoring with 25.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, fifth placed Hadleigh & Thundersley were beaten by 30 runs against Chelmsford.

Batting first, Chelmsford made 201/8 with Hadleigh’s Louis Poynter taking 3/31.

But Hadleigh struggled in reply and lost a cluster of early wickets to fall to 47/5.

Adam Soilleux (38), Haider Ali Syed Zaidi (37) and Adam Dobson (31) bolstered the innings but it was not enough to prevent defeat.

In Division One, second from bottom Old Southendian & Southchurch were beaten by 175 runs against Fives & Heronians.

Fives hit 283/4 with opener Bradley Copper scoring an impressive 129.

Sandeep Muraleedharan took 3/72 for Southendian who were then bowled out for 108 with Matthew Darvill top scoring with 34.

In Division Two, table-topping Wickford saw off Old Parkonians by 23 runs.

Wickford made 186/8 in their innings with openers Chris Whitworth (50) and Huzaifa Umer (34) getting them off to a strong start.

In reply, Oakfield were dismissed for 163 with Chirag Desai taking an impressive 6/21.

Elsewhere, fourth placed Leigh on Sea suffered a two wicket defeat against Harlow Town.

Leigh made 191 in their innings with Dean Waller top scoring with 39 while TJ Bailey added 34.

However, Harlow made it home for the loss of eight wickets despite the best efforts of Tarun Goel who took 4/44.

Also in Division Two, fifth placed Westcliff beat Benfleet by four wickets.

Benfleet made 220 after batting first with Joe McIver and Samuel Coelho both scoring 44.

Alex Hatton was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4/50 before Westcliff made it home for the loss of six wickets with opener Charlie Lockhart scoring a crucial 77.
